⚡ Google API Services User Data Policy & Limited Use Disclosure
Joltly's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
We do not use Google user data to train generalized AI or machine learning models. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or Google user data to third parties, data brokers, or advertisers under any circumstances.
1. Introduction
Joltly ("we", "us", or "our") operates the interactive live audience engagement, trivia, and presentation platform hosted at https://joltly.app. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting personal data. This Privacy Policy details what information we collect, how it is used, how it is safeguarded, and how you can exercise your privacy and data deletion rights.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information in the following limited contexts:
- Google Account Data (OAuth 2.0): When you authenticate using Google Sign-In, we request access only to basic profile identity scopes (
openid, profile, email). We receive your full name, email address, profile picture URL, and unique Google ID (UID). We do not access Google Drive, Gmail, Contacts, Calendar, or any other Google Workspace service.
- Microsoft 365 Account Data: When authenticating via Microsoft SSO, we receive your name and email address via Microsoft Graph API.
- Email Verification OTP: When signing in with email, we collect your email address solely to dispatch a 6-digit one-time authentication code.
- Host Presentation Content: Custom trivia boards, questions, categories, point values, team configurations, and custom logos created by presenters.
- Game Participants / Attendees: Attendees join live games by entering a room PIN and choosing a temporary nickname and avatar. Participants are never required to create an account, log in, or submit personal information. Scores and buzzer timestamps are transiently maintained only during active game rounds.
- Payment & Billing Data: Subscriptions and payments are processed directly by Stripe. Joltly never receives or stores raw payment card numbers or security codes.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use collected data solely to:
- Authenticate host presenters and maintain secure session states.
- Save, edit, load, and run custom trivia boards and host workspaces.
- Display host identity and avatars on the presenter console and game leaderboards.
- Manage active subscription plans (Free, Pro, Team) and 7-day trials.
- Provide technical support and essential platform notifications.
- Prevent room spam, abuse, and maintain server reliability.
4. Data Sharing and Third-Party Disclosures
We do not sell, rent, monetize, or lease your personal information. We share data only with essential infrastructure partners necessary to deliver the service:
- Google Cloud & Firebase: Authentication, session tokens, and cloud hosting infrastructure.
- Stripe: PCI-DSS compliant payment processing and recurring subscription management.
- Google Gemini API: AI trivia board generation when explicitly requested by a presenter. No personal user data is sent to the AI model.
5. Data Retention, Security & User Deletion Rights
We retain host account data for as long as your account remains active. All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted using industry-standard TLS 1.3 / HTTPS encryption.
🔒 How to Request Account & Data Deletion
You have the absolute right to request the complete deletion of your host account, email address, and custom boards at any time:
- Email our compliance team at support@joltly.app with the subject line "Data Deletion Request". Deletion requests are permanently processed within 48 hours.
- You can revoke Joltly's access to your Google Account at any time via your Google Account Security Permissions.
6. Educational Use & Children's Privacy (FERPA / COPPA)
Joltly is widely utilized in classrooms and universities. Because attendees participate anonymously via room PINs without accounts or personal data collection, Joltly complies with student privacy standards under COPPA and FERPA.
